Right at the edge of the valley, I took this photo on a cold and misty may morning in 2021.
As the beech forest is in full bloom, this old tree had barely blossomed yet.
Its leaves have an entirely different colour of green compared to the rest of the forest. Its branches are also covered in moss. It's really those colour differences that makes the image work.
The composition is very unusual for a woodland, due to Söderåsens high canyon walls you can get a different angle on the woodland. The break of leaves in the image makes the tree pop out from the rest of the forest, and in the far background you see the steep cliffs surrounded by more beech forests.
